TAKING CARE OF YOUR JEWELLERY

Maintaining Any Type of Jewellery

  • Store your jewellery in dust-free, compartmentalized jewellery box.
  • Remove your jewellery before showering, bathing, or cleaning.
  • Wear your jewellery only after having applied make-up and perfume as the residues can make the jewellery dull.
  • Do not wear your jewellery in the swimming pool.
  • Remove your jewellery before performing any heavy-duty tasks, such as working in the kitchen, cleaning the house, gardening, heavy lifting work, and playing contact sports.

Gold Jewellery

Cleaning

  •
In a small bowl, mix in few drops of mild liquid dish detergent in warm water.
  • Soak your jewellery in the soap mixture for a few minutes.
  • Gently rub with your fingers each piece of your jewellery. If you have a heavy, ornate piece with many cracks and crevices, or if your jewellery is very tarnished, you can use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean.
  • Rinse your jewellery in warm water until the water runs clean.
  • Then, dry your jewellery with a soft cloth or you can leave it out overnight to air dry.

Diamond Jewellery

Maintaining

  • If you are not wearing your diamond jewellery regularly, store it in a jewellery box with a cloth lining & cotton pads, keeping it apart from other jewellery. It is important that every piece of jewellery has its own place, to prevent your diamond or its settings from being scratched.

Cleaning

  • When cleaning, try not to touch the stone with your fingers; hold the diamond jewellery by the edges.
  • In a small bowl, mix in a few drops of mild liquid dish detergent in warm water.
  • Soak your jewellery in the soap mixture for a few minutes.
  • With a soft tooth brush gently clean your diamond jewellery.
  • Rinse your jewellery in warm water until the water runs clean.
  • Use a soft cloth to dry your jewellery.

Uncut Jewellery

Maintaining

  • Polki jewellery is prone to moisture. Even the velvet boxes provided by the jeweler may not avoid moisture well enough and may lose shine over time. So, never keep your jewellery in a humid place or expose it to direct sun light for long durations, as it might get discolored or the stones might become loose.
  • Sometimes, moisture is unavoidable. One of the solutions is to wrap your Polki jewellery in butter paper or soft muslin cloth, and keep them in an airtight container.

Cleaning

  •  Do not wash or polish the jewellery at home. Please bring it to your jeweler for cleaning.
